Students will be coming home with information for creating an account on GrammarFlip. Many of the videos posted for adjectives came from this website, and it is a great resource for practicing grammar skills! Once the students have created an account with their Google school information (It’s free!) they will be able to watch instructional videos, go through informational slides, and complete grammar exercises and writing prompts in order to apply what they have learned — and they can do it over and over again!
Check it out: www.grammarflip.com
Hola,
After having learned how to conjugate regular verbs in present tense to express the chores we do at home, now we are concluding our second unit with phrases to express obligation (to have/tener que + infinitivo, hay que + infinitivo), adverbs of frequency and some more cultural aspects from Puerto Rico.
As follows, a couple of videos that will help you to review these themes (tener que+infinitivo) and (hay que + infinitivo).
Also, attached an additional chart we learned today at class–>Expresar OBLIGACION
Our next quiz will be on Friday, april 8th. about expressing obligation using the verb to have (tener que y hay que) and adverbs of frequency.
Saludos,
Sra. Rivera.
Tonight students will be asked to create a histogram. Please watch this video to help in the creation process. The second problem on the homework is a bar graph – NOT a histogram. The histogram for #1 and the bar graph for #2 should go on the BACK of the homework sheet.
We started adverbs today, and will be working on them all week long; the adverb quiz will be on Monday. I created a timeline with the students for how/what they should be studying throughout the week so that they can spread out their studying and not be trying to cram everything adverb in their brains at 9pm on Sunday night. Below is a link to the studying timeline, so families can see it as well!
We talked about characters today, and used “The Paper Bag Princess” as a mentor text. The students quickly recognized Elizabeth as both a round and dynamic character, Prince Ronald as flat and static, and we were able to generate a great discussion concerning the character of the dragon. If you’ve never read it, it’s worth it! The students LOVED the ending!
Next week students will be taking a Document Based Question (DBQ) Exam on the Great Depression and New Deal. This is a great way to analyze primary sources as well as prepare for PSSA testing coming up in April. To prepare for this, students may practice with this DBQ. This is not an assigned homework, but is a great way for students to practice and see what to expect on the test. We have been working this entire unit on understanding primary sources and pulling answers from the text, so I am confident our students will do great things on it!
Here is a link explaining what a DBQ is and some tips on how to work through them

If students have any questions on the practice DBQ, they may see me on Monday to discuss it.
