2.  Enter the code 57202

3.  Click Proceed

4.  Enter your NAME and click Join Game.

5.  You will be given an avatar, then you will see the “Start Game” button.  Click to begin!

This works on all computers – laptops, desktops, and tablets.  It also works on phones, ipods, iphones or android phones as well.   Have fun!

PAW Holiday Smells

The paragraph-a-week that is due this Friday (12/11) focuses on the smells of the holidays (or of impending winter), and has the students focusing on using descriptive language. They need to create a list of these smells as their pre-writing, complete a rough draft, edit the draft with adult help, and complete their final copy. Each of these components is due when they turn it in on Friday. Encourage them to re-read the prompt and requirements and check their work (Hint: They need to have TWO paragraphs this week.) Click the link below to view the entire prompt!

Pronoun Test

We are wrapping up our grammar unit on pronouns, and as such the students will have a pronoun test on Tuesday (12/15). We’re doing review activities on Friday and Monday, and the students should study using their Grammar Handbook and their Language Arts notebook over the weekend, and then on Monday night as well. In addition, I will be sending home a practice test with them on Friday so they can use it to study. I’m not collecting or grading the practice test, it’s purely to help them prepare. There will not be a re-test this time, so please encourage your student to spend time studying the material. Thanks!

New behavior on Classdojo

Starting today you may notice a new behavior point on Classdojo under the needs improvement section.  A negative point will be added for “out of uniform”.  The most common infractions are untucked shirts, sweatshirts/hoodies that are not part of the uniform, or incorrect shoes.  Please refer to the uniform policy sent home if you have any questions on what is and is not school appropriate. Dress Code

Band/Orchestra Families

Pursuing a musical instrument is absolutely wonderful, but we need to make sure our band and orchestra students know their responsibilities to their classes as well as to their music lessons. Each band/orchestra student received this letter today to help give them clarity. Please read it with your student, and let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!

School colors/School mascot project!

The students have begun the process of investigation for the big Design project of developing school colors and a mascot for York Academy! On Friday, representatives from York College came and presented to sixth grade about the process they went through while revamping their own mascot. The students displayed great respect during the presentation, and gained a lot of valuable information!

Social Studies Homework this weekend

To clarify the Remind post about Social Studies this weekend:

Students have been working on a project the last few days in class, where they were assigned an industrialist and had to research their life.  Their goal was to prove if their businessmen was a “Robber Baron” or “Captain of Industry”.  They will have time in class on Monday to complete the project, but it is due before they leave class on Monday.  It is up to them to know how much work they still need to do in order to hand in their best work, and come prepared to finish on Monday.
